Arrivederci #3

April 19, 2012-

Wrapping up my last day, the ice cream cake is gone and so is everyone else. I planned to leave around 4pm to run some errands then meet the girls from work at a local wine bar for ladies night and some celebratory drinks before my departure. However, I had no idea packing up my office would take so long. 5:30 rolls around the girls are wondering where I am. I finally get all of my stuff to my car and say my last goodbye to my office. I head over to the wine bar and a few of the girls are there, but not everyone I was expecting. I figured everyone else was running late. We had a couple of drinks and laughs, then it was time to move on to the Mexican restaurant for some margaritas! Kami told me to hop in with her and she would bring me back to my car. Without thought or hesitation, I hopped in her car. We start heading towards the restaurant and Kami casually pulls into the Walgreens parking lot, says she has to pick up a few things, I think nothing of it and just sit there with my pleasant buzz. She pulls up behind the Walgreens to T&T Nail Salon that I just so happen to love to go to. I’m still in lala land, and she says, “come in here with me quick, you know we love you Jennifer!”. I’m thoroughly confused now, so I do the inevitable, freak out.

The wonderful ladies in my life threw me a surprise nail spa party!!!! Aaaahhh!!!! I was genuinely shocked! It was so sweet, and I was incredibly honored. I’m still coming down from that cloud.

You ladies are amazing and I am so blessed to have you in my life. Thanks for everything, it was a great time!

Arrivederci #2

April 19, 2012-

Last day at the first location of my first “grown up” job. I had internships while in college, but there’s definitely something different about your first job out of college. You’ve got benefits selections, stock purchases, healthcare spending, disability, salary, and serious-as-a-heartache responsibilities. I feel like I grew up and into the professional I am in this place, and now I’m moving on. I am with the same company, but it’s still hard to say “see ya later” to the people that have helped me “grow up” Only 2 ½ years and I had already made connections, life-long friendships, and invaluable mentors. On my last day, they threw me an ice cream cake party in the break room. The cake was delicious and the company superb as usual. Pics below.

Thank you Nucor Steel Nebraska Team! I miss you!

Arrivederci #1

I was born into a great family & over the course of my life, I have been honored to meet and connect with some amazing people. I truly believe I have the absolute best family and friends anyone could have. If you would like to challenge me on that, go for it.

When I told these wonderful folks of my potential plans to move to Italy for a few years, I got almost nothing but encouragement, prayers, and love. I knew it would be hard to say arrivederci to everyone, so they  made it easier by throwing me parties to send me off. Aren't they great!?!

Quick Change

Ciao!
Here are the facts:
  • My name is Jennifer
  • I'm 26 years old
  • I am an accountant
  • I am an American
  • I just moved to Italy
I am an Illinois-born, Nebraskan-grown gal. I have always wanted big things for myself, and have always been up for an adventure. Very shortly after I graduated from college, I accepted a position at a wonderful company and relocated to Northeast Nebraska. Many of the people in my life were supportive, but still skeptical about the move to Norfolk, NE. While in Norfolk, I met some life-long friends, had some great and new experiences, and even some tough life lessons. All in all, it was a valuable experience. Then came an opportunity in my work inbox for an accountant position in Italy for a couple of years for a joint venture for my company. It all happened so fast, but I am so happy it did! Fast forward about 7-8 weeks, and here I am in Brescia, Italy. It's going to be quite an experience, and I want to share it with you!
